International patients

Eye care in Tabriz, for patients outside Iran.

This page is for visitors and Iranians living abroad who have an eye problem and are thinking of being seen by Dr. Sahel Soltani, an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon in Tabriz. It explains what to collect before you come and how to reach the support team.

Before you travel

Gather what you have. Clear copies or phone photos are fine to start with.

  • Your current glasses and contact lens prescriptions, with their dates
  • Reports and printouts of eye tests: OCT, visual fields, corneal maps (topography), and any retinal photographs
  • Eye pressure readings over time, if you have them
  • Operation notes from any eye surgery or laser, including the type and power of any lens implant
  • Every eye drop and medicine you use: the name, how often, and since when
  • Your general health: diabetes, blood pressure, blood thinners and allergies
  • A short timeline: what changed in your sight, in which eye, and when

The way to send these documents is still being confirmed. For now, call the international support line: +989302272111

How it works

Practical questions

Can a diagnosis be made from my records alone?

No. Your records help the doctor understand your situation, but a diagnosis and a treatment plan come after an examination and the right tests.

Should I stop my eye drops before I travel?

No. Keep using your drops as prescribed and do not stop or change any of them without your own doctor. Bring the list with you.

How long would I need to stay in Tabriz?

It depends on the tests and visits you need. If surgery is advised, ask how many follow-up visits are needed before you book your return. The doctor can tell you after the first visit.

I suddenly see flashes, many floaters or a shadow. Can I wait until I travel to Tabriz?

Please do not wait. These can be signs of a retinal tear or detachment. Get care where you are today. See the list of urgent signs in the guide.

Can I fly after eye surgery?

Ask your surgeon before you book. After some retinal operations a gas bubble is left in the eye, and flying is not safe until it has gone.

What about language, fees and insurance?

These are not confirmed yet and are listed above as awaiting details. Please do not assume anything until they are confirmed.

What number do I call in an emergency?

115 is Iran's emergency number. It works only while you are in Iran. From abroad, use your local emergency number.

Every patient's situation is different; ask your doctor about your own.
